The Car-Part Scoop
A New Way to Review Resolution Parts in Checkmate 2020R6
As part of the Checkmate 2020R6 improvements to help you better maintain inventory, there's now a new (and easier!) way to review your Resolution Parts.

Resolution Parts are parts that are in your inventory, but they need to have interchange assigned. (And until they do, people won't be able to find those parts in online searches!)

They might need interchange assigned after an interchange update (if the previously assigned interchange number was discontinued or changed). Or, maybe they just weren't assigned interchange to begin with. That's really common after you upgrade to Car-Part Interchange Plus (CPI+) - you might have had tons of parts that just didn't have interchange available before, but they do now with CPI+! So when you first upgrade, you'll see a lot of those parts in Resolution.

When you're looking up parts in Checkmate Sales Pro, Resolution Parts are colored yellow to let you know that they might not actually be a match for the part you looked up, because Checkmate doesn't have the interchange info it needs to make that determination. Checkmate is still waiting on you to review and assign interchange.

So, how do you fix this and assign interchange to those parts? You can do it in Checkmate or Photomate. Here's how:
Checkmate

  1. In the Inventory tool's Find tab, click the Resolution Parts button. This will produce a list of all of your Resolution Parts.
    • Tip: If you have a lot of Resolution Parts, you might find it easiest to focus on a specific set of parts (like a specific location or part type). You can use the fields at the top of the screen to limit your search by that criteria, then click the Resolution Parts button.

  2. Review the list of Resolution Parts. To assign interchange to any part in the list, click the Interchange column's question mark (?)  button on that part.

  1. The IC Selection window opens, with a list of interchange options for this part.

  2. (Optional) Checking the Copy IC Description to User Description checkbox will add the Interchange Description to the end of this part's description. Click this before you select the interchange.

  3. Check the appropriate checkbox to assign interchange to this part.

  4. Repeat this process for other parts in your Resolution Parts list. When you're done, click the save button to make all of your changes permanent.

You're done!

Photomate

Sometimes, you need to actually go out to the warehouse or the yard to look at the part, before you can figure out which interchange choice is correct. That's where the Photomate smartphone app comes in handy.

  1. On the Photomate app, tap Resolution Parts.

  2. Enter filters (location, part type, etc.) and tap RETRIEVE. This will produce a list of Resolution Parts that match your filters.
    • Tip: It's easier on you (and your phone) to work with a smaller list, so consider using multiple filters to really narrow which parts you're going to work on.

  3. Review the list. To assign interchange to any part on the list, just tap on the part.

  4. The part's information displays. Tap Select to see the interchange choices.

  5. Tap the correct option to assign interchange to this part.

  6. If you want to, you can also edit part information from here (like editing pricing or taking photos).

  7. Tap UPLOAD, and the new part information is sent to Checkmate.

You're done with that part! You're returned to the list of Resolution Parts, and you can repeat this process for other parts in your list.
