Please be aware that we are receiving many virus-infected emails being sent based on real emails. These emails are very deceptive because the body looks like a real email from someone at Car-Part.com but the sender is not really from Car-Part.com (they are being "spoofed").
For example:
- An email might say it's from "[email protected] <[email protected]>". The part inside the <> is the real email address, but it looks like it came from [email protected].
- An email might say it's from "Mary Smith <[email protected]>". The part inside the <> is the real email address, but it looks like it came from Mary Smith.
- Sometimes we are seeing infected Excel files attached to the spoofed emails, and sometimes links to virus infected websites are included in the spoofed emails.
Do not click on the links and do not open the attachments!
About these viruses: When a PC is infected with this particular virus, the virus captures email addresses and sometimes whole emails, which are then sent up to the "cloud." This information is used to send realistic-looking emails to the captured email addresses (to try to get those computers infected, too). This attack continues even after the PC is disinfected, because the virus keeps a copy of the stolen information in the cloud.
